It occured to me yesterday that I have a significant amount of vacation accrued at work. That means a number of things:
- I’m a workaholic that does not enjoy life
- I’m swamped constantly and simply never have time to take vacation
- I’m still looking for that “perfect” vacation
Considering I’m consistently trying to shirk my responsibilities at work, I don’t think the “workaholic” label directly applies. Though, the argument could be made for me enjoying my life more. True true. I get it.
The last “perfect” vacation I took was last year for our anniversary in Hawaii. I think it will take awhile for anything to quite meet the standards of that completely perfect vacation.
Which leaves us with the 2nd point. I am, and have been for some time, completely swamped at work. As it turns out however, I have managed to carve some time out at the end of the month to head back to OK to visit friends and family. I know….not exactly a “perfect” vacation, but one that is long overdue. I mean, it’s been 3 years or so since either one of us has been back, so it should be a good time.
As per usual, Heather has our time divided so we are as busy as we can. Split between a myriad of places we want to eat (Elmer’s, Bueno, Steakstuffers, Joe’s, etc) and commitments to basically everyone we know in OK, we should be pretty busy. Also, we’re going to the first OSU game of the season! Soooo….family, friends, tailgating, football and watered-down beer, I think we have our bases covered.
